Vascular Surgery

Vascular surgery is the branch of surgery in which diseases of the vascular system, which is the network of vessels that circulate blood to (arteries) and from (veins) the heart and lungs, are treated. These diseases are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. Vascular disorders can include blockages, narrowing and abnormal swelling of vessels, or vessel malfunction. Often, the disease processes involved in vascular disorders also involve other body systems and your treatment may therefore require the combined efforts of other medical specialists such as radiologists and general physicians.
