Meet our Audiologist
An Audiologist specialises in the diagnosis of hearing loss and provides rehabilitation in the form of hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Patients are never too young or too old to be referred for a hearing assessment. We have all of the necessary equipment and skills to easily assess patients of any age, from newborn through to adult.
Diagnostic Hearing Assessment
Pure-tone audiometry is used to assess the level of your hearing. Pure tone audiometry along with other objective measurements, provides a comprehensive assessment of the integrity of your auditory system. Only a full diagnostic hearing assessment can provide enough information to decide on the best management plan.
Auditory Brain Stem Response Testing (ABR)
When a baby is too little to provide reliable behavioral responses to sound, ABR assessment is used to provide accurate measures of the auditory system right to the level of the brain. Recording electrodes are carefully placed onto the babies head and soft foam tips are inserted into the ear canals. While they sleep, the response of the nerve to quiet sounds are picked up by the electrodes and the results are analyzed to determine the quietest sounds they can hear.
When a hearing loss is diagnosed, we provide a complementary appointment to discuss the appropriate rehabilitation options and assist you to choose the best intervention that suits your budget and lifestyle. We provide all top brands of hearing aids and assistive listening devices as well as all available funding options including the ACC, Accessable, Government hearing aid subside, War Pensions and the Children’s Hearing Aid Fund.
